1. Contact Unit

Fill out the form at the end of this page. We will respond as soon as possible.

2. First Contact

Our Commanding Officer (CO) or the recruiting officer will make contact to discuss your child's interest in the program. If after this discussion you child is still interested, your cadet will be added to our recruiting backlog.

3. Recruiting Event

We generally hold recruiting events twice a year. Everyone on the recruiting backlog is invited. This presentation allows potential recruits and their parents a more detailed look at the program and a chance to ask questions of adult leadership and/or other cadets.

4. Decide to Join

Due to limitations on facilities and adult leadership, Charette Division is constrained to somewhere around 50 cadets. In general, we will make every effort to sign-up your recruit if interested. However there have been occasions where interested cadets need to be placed on a waiting list, waiting for senior cadets to graduate out of the program.
The program contains requirements that cadets attend 75% of drills, at least one additional yearly training and continue to advance in rate. The program is a great opportunity for your child to mature, learn life skills and hopefully have fun along the way. However it is better to understand up front that the program is not a good fit for every child.
If your cadet is on the fence, we can make arrangements to have your cadet attend a Shadow Day drill to give the potential recruit a better understanding of what they are signing up for.

5. Submit enrollement Forms

At this point in the process, the parent will need to submit several forms including the "CADET APPLICATION MEMBER INFORMATION" (nscadm001_1) included below.

Note: HMCM Willliam R, Charette Division is in region 04-6.

6. Enrollment Fees

  • Current enrollment fees are $209 for the first year and $159 per year subsequent years.
  • An addition, there is a onetime $100 deposit required to cover cost of Uniforms. Refundable deposits remain the property of the person who gave the funds, and only become the unit’s property if forfeited when the cadet fails to return his/her uniforms at the time of disenrollment.
  • Once all paperwork has been submitted an invoice will be generated. Bills may be paid online through the hyperlink on the invoice or checks can be made out to "HMCM William R. Charette Division".

7. Welcome Aboard

Your Cadet will be assigned to Charlie Company and will remain a recruit for 3 months while they learn the basics about Sea Cadets. At the end of the 3 months and at the completion of some online classes the cadet will be issued uniforms based upon whether they are a Sea Cadet or Leque Cadet and the availability of our supply.

Please submit the folowing data and one of our officers will ge back to you.
