In a first for Region 2-1, a Flagship competition was held between 7 units. Along with Charette Div, participants were Fort McHenry, Training Ship Constellation, Maryland SSBN 738, Training Ship Reina Mercedes, Annapolis Division and Pathfinders Division. The competition included close order drill, color guard, academics, athletics, and uniform inspection.
The staff from Pathfinders along with Regional Director LCDR Emilio Balay put in a lot of effort over this past year to make this successful. Thanks also go out to some active-duty Navy personnel, Navy Recruiting Command, and midshipman and staff from the Naval Academy who all performed duties as independent judges for the competitions.
Charette placed 4th overall and received a 2nd place overall drill performance trophy. MD Division dominated the event, with Annapolis and Pathfinders close behind. I commend MD Division for such a solid performance, we’ll be aiming for you next year!
It was nice to meet staff and cadet leadership from the other units. I think all units walked away with a larger awareness of the program, and a few new friends from across the region. It was a well done event and we look forward to a return next year.
